My paternal grandmother was Elva Mae Christison. She married Howard William Fulton. The clearly documented history of my Christison Family line goes back to John and Margaret Hamilton Christison of Mine Run Hundred in Baltimore County, Maryland. They moved with their extended family to Kentucky about 1788-89. Their Grandson John Christison moved to central Illinois in 1830. My Grandmother was born in Logan County, Ill. in 1902.
The Christison name originates in Scotland with my family line, but the surname is also found in Scandinavia. It means "son of Christopher". The earliest reference I know of is a Henry Cristeson in the shire of Stirling in 1412. I believe is it highly likely that my Christison line descends from a noted Quaker Wenlock Christison, who after a number of adventures and trials ended up settling in Talbot County, Maryland in 1670.

The picture below is of my Great Great Grandparents Alfred Chistison and Seretta Whitaker and their children taken about 1915. As my Grandmother told me the photo below was taken after Seretta passed away in 1914. They left a space and the photographer put in an older picture of Seretta.

Alfred and Seretta married on September 3, 1863 in Logan County, Illinois, license # 888. They lived most of their lives and raised their children on their farm in Logan County near the small town of Chestnut. In their later years they lived in Decatur, ILL.
